…-:Union is Strength:-….

November 17, 2007

I think you well know the story of the hunter and the snips. The hunter could not catch the birds so far as they were at peace with each other. They collectively lifted the hunter’s net thrown over them and flew away with it. When once they quarreled with each other they did not function as before. The hunter caught them all. There is another striking story to prove that unity is strength. An old man was worried about his sons’ behavior. They were fighting with each other. The father brought a bundle of sticks and put it before his sons. He asked each of them to break it. None of them could. They were able to break each stick by itself easily. This experience taught the sons a remarkable lesson. So far as they worked together as brothers, they will be safe. If they fall out with each other they will be exposed to danger.     If a cricket them wants to win the cup, the members have got to work together as a them. If each member wants to play the game according to his wish, the they will lose the game. People say that this type of behavior lead to the defeat of the sir lankan cricket team in 1999. to win a battle, an army must work together. If the personal interests of the officers were given priority, they are sure to lose the battle. Great general napoleon always tried to make his allied enemies lose trust among them selves. When they are separated he would attack them one by one. He could easily defeat them as they became weak by division. A united nation, a united country, a united family or a united them is strong . united they stand; divided they fall.

……-:Hobbies:-……

November 3, 2007

Hobbies are things we do for good amusement. They do not count as regular daily we do. For example going to school or work is not a hobby. Going to the market or to the temple cannot be called a hobby. There are lots of examples where one man’s work becomes another’s hobby. Suppose a person is a gardener by profession. He may choose writing short stories as a hobby. Likewise a writer by profession may take up gardening as a hobby.                     There are many kinds of hobbies. Some are simple. Some are expensive.  Certain hobbies bring you an income. Others make you spend. Collecting stamps, collecting coins, Collecting pictures and books are some types of hobbies. You have got to spend money on them. But they ate not costly. Collecting old cars, antique furniture or famous paintings come under the category of very expensive hobbies. When you sell the fruits and vegetables you grow for amusement. You receive money. The expensive hobbies very often do not return the money invested. Some people have adopted hobbies like fishing and hunting in them you amuse yourself at the cost of other being’s lives. A hobby like photography may help you to have the images of the fish birds and animals you see, with you for a long time. It doesn’t affect their lives. Hobbies have another good aspect. A mischievous boy may be nuisance to his parents during his holidays. When taught to adopt a useful hobby, he will spend the free time usefully. Every one should be have some sort of a hobby. If not mere studies or work may tire him and make the life boring with no amusement.

……-:Honesty:-……

November 3, 2007

When a person is truthful in word and deed we say that he is honest. An honest man always tells the truth. He says just what he thinks. He does not pretend to feel what he does not feel really. He always keeps his promises. If he says that he will come to meet you on such and such a time on a certain day. He will do so at any cost. This nature makes you keep trust in him. He not only speaks the truth. He acts truly. You most have met a lot of people who utter lies whenever they open their mouths. They may deceive people for a time. But when people understand their true nature they shun him.             An honest worker does his best at his work place. He doesn’t take much leave. He doesn’t cheat his master. He doesn’t while away time idling and claim full wages. An honest master too treats his workers well. He pays their due wages in time. He doesn’t delay their payments giving a dozen of false causes. An honest businessman does his buying and selling very fair. He sells his goods at moderate price. He doesn’t sell unsatisfactory items and make his customers at a loss. Honest people have a few outstanding characteristics. They never steal, cheat or hesitate to pay their debts. He treats other people the same away he likes to be treated by them. An honest person may be not so rich, but he wins the respect of the others. They trust him, honor him, and regard him as a real gentleman with straight policies, not bent either by wealth or power.

The lord Buddha.

October 27, 2007

The Buddha’s name of when he was a prince was siddharatha. He was born in the year 620 B.C. hailed from royal clan called shakyas. It is a tribe related to the mangols. He was born at kapilawasthu, a small state situated ay the foot of Himalaya Mountain. His father was suddhodana the ruler of kapilawasthu and the mother was queen mahamaya. The prince was brought up amidst luxuries but he was not so much interested in them. When he was a young man he married ysodara a pretty princess from a relative clan. When prince siddharatha was 29 years old his wife gave birth to a prince. That very night he left the castle in search of the meaning of life.

The prince did away with his royal clothing, cut his heir and dressed himself in the robes of an ascetic. For few years he was a disciple of several teachers, but they could not help him in his search. He had to undergo many hardships in his quest. After six or seven year from the day he left the castle, one night he set under a bo tree and contemplated over the nature of human life. At last he was successful. He had found the answer to the tormenting question” why do people suffer?” He discovered that craving is the root cause of all human agony. Besides, he understood a lot of other causes and effects related to human existence. He spent the rest of his life which amounts to forty five years, preaching the Dhamma he realized, to the mankind.

He covered the whole of Madya Pradesh on foot to do good to thousands of people there. He passed away at Kusinagar at the age of eighty. All the worldly things perish one day. Do not delay in your efforts to liberate yourself from worldly fetters they were his last words.
